What is the architecture of the InstantOffice system?
Nine exclusive Vertical Networks patents form the basis for the InstantOffice system’s non-blocking switching complex, which supports packet voice, circuit voice, and packet data. The switching complex includes a circuit switch that ensures no latency for voice services. Because the system’s enhanced Windows NT operating system is not involved in the streaming, multiplexing, and switching of voice traffic, it can be used instead for connection management and control. From a WAN access data perspective, the integrated packet- and circuit-switch architecture allows for dynamic allocation of trunk services between voice and data with ensured time-slot allocation. The combination of dynamic allocation and quality assurance is key to emerging converged voice and data applications as well as to services that require reliable Internet and intranet connections.
