Every bank has a 9-digit ABA or routing number assigned to it. You must call your particular branch where you have your account set up to obtain this number or simply look at the bottom of a personal check. The routing number is the first 9 digits found on the bottom left of your personal check and usually separated by a colon (:) and a line (|) on either side Note: The check number may be in the middle position and your bank account number may be located on the bottom right hand corner.
