I have tried FTM, PAF, Family Origins and Roots Magic. Roots Magic is my choice. Unless they have improved it, FTM had some problems. RM lets you enter a place just once, then “suggests” it from then on, the way Excel will “suggest” text, as you type. You can change ALL instance of a given place with one edit, too; this comes in handy of you discover what Great-Aunt Alma said was “Wilksbury” is really Wilks-Barre, and you have 300 citations of people born, married and buried there. This is called “normalization” in the data base designing business, and the last edition of FTM I had didn’t do it. The custom reporting features are great. You can direct any report – custom or canned – to an RTF file, when open it with Word. http://www.rootsmagic.com RM 1.0 was Family Origins for Windows 11.0, due to some licensing issues. If you have heard of or liked FOW, you’ll like RM.
