What is the best food to feed my 10 week old kitten?
A high-quality Wet food is probably the BEST food your kitten can get! Wet/canned kitten food is specially formulated to kitten dietary needs. Good quality canned food better mimics prey foods, and is high in protein and fat – the two things that cats use as their energy source! Contrary to popular belief, dry food is not very good for your cat in the way of nutrition. Dry foods are often packed with carbohydrates – “filler” in the way of corns and grains. In the wild, felines consume very little carbohydrates as prey mainly consists of water, protein and fat, with only about 10% of carbohydrate (this usually comes from the grain in the prey’s stomachs). Also; dry food does not clean your cat’s teeth! In one of the links below, the article says how “kibbles shatter, so contact between the kibble and the teeth occurs only at the tips of the teeth.” This is like saying eating cookies keeps OUR teeth clean!
