What is the BMLSc Program?
The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science program is a two year undergraduate degree offered by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine. Students enter year three after completing two years of science prerequisites or the RT (general) diploma and 12 credits of second year chemistry. What is Medical Laboratory Science? Medical Laboratory Science is the study of the scientific principles underlying the disciplines practiced in hospital and medical research laboratories. Topics include: Pathology – the study of the mechanisms of disease processes. Histology – the study of cells and tissues under a microscope. Medical Microbiology – the study of micro-organisms that cause disease. Clinical Chemistry – the chemical analysis of blood and other body fluids.
