It DEPENDS… not all have the same NUMBER… Chapter and verse divisions came along shortly after the invention of the printing press, essentially as an aid to those less familiar with the text. They were done by men and are not the same in all editions. For example: The Hebrew text of Malachi has only 3 chapters, while there are 4 in English. Almost all of the Psalms have one fewer verses in English than Hebrew. – the “introductions” or “directions” included in SOME English translations are usually designated as the first verse in Hebrew texts. For most English Bibles, the SAME CONTENT is there, just DIVIDED DIFFERENTLY. Even among English Bibles, the books are not always in the same order – YLT, “Young’s Literal Translation” comes to mind.
