What is the Centralia Animal Disease Laboratory?
Established in 1948, the Centralia Animal Disease Laboratory is part of the Illinois Department of Agriculture. The laboratory provides a variety of services, including animal disease testing, meat inspection and animal feed analysis. The facility is located southwest of Kaskaskia College in Clinton County. Services are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday except state holidays. What services does the laboratory provide? The laboratory administers more than 400,000 tests annually. These tests fall under the following categories: Diagnostic services –Using modern equipment, staff identify bacteria, viruses, parasites and toxic substances that pose a threat to livestock and companion animals in Illinois. Quick identification of diseases or toxins enables veterinarians or animal owners to administer appropriate remedies.
