Rebecca, Purple shampoo such as Shimmer Lights by Clairol is actually violet blue. It is used to give the allusion of reducing yellow in blond hilites. If you know your basic color wheel blue is on the opposite side of yellow. It cancels each out.Leaving a neutral shade. It would not work on natural blonde only bleach blonde as it is pourous and allows the “blue” to enter the shaft. I myself believe hair color reveals itself differently under different lites. I have seen Shimmer Lights over used and the turn hair more blue than neutral. A hair color wheel can easliy search for on google. Something to think about: Does a blue eyed person see light colors differently than a brown eyed person? Fact: An adult with brown hair and blue eyes was born w/ blonde hair. Hope some of this helps. Thanx for the very interesting question!
