What is the cost of receiving mental health services at a South Carolina Department of Mental Health Center or Inpatient Hospital?
The South Carolina Department of Mental Health makes needed services available to any citizen of South Carolina. Some consumers have private insurance, or they are eligible for Medicaid or Medicare. For consumer’s who do not have insurance but are unable to cover the full charges, the Department’s mental health centers have a hardship reduction policy which can result in reducing the fees charged to eligible consumers to an affordable amount. Our staff will work with the consumer’s income information to determine if a he/she qualifies for a hardship reduction. A payment plan can be worked out to help meet these medical expenses.
