What is the cost to adopt a bird?
PASO is a non-profit organization – we DO NOT sell birds. We do, however, require an adoption fee in most instances for birds adopted from us. The fee is returned directly to the organization for the care of all our birds: Veterinary care, food, cages, perches, toys and everything required to provide the birds with proper care. The costs to keep the organization in operation and available to birds in need are high we always operate on a deficit. The adoption fees help us provide continual care for all PASO birds. The adoption fee is determined according to the size and species of the parrot, vetting costs and cages. All adoption fees are lower than the price associated with buying the birds from breeders or pet stores. They are calculated at only about 25% of the cost to purchase the species from a pet store.
