What is the Declaration of independence, what was jefferson trying to do when he made it?
A long, long time ago, way back in the 70’s, the Jeffersons were neighbors of Archie and Edith Bunker on “All in the Family.” When these vibrant characters began receiving significant amounts of dedicated fan mail, George, Louise (“Weezy”), and Lionel Jefferson proposed breaking away and starting their own show. Archie and Edith refused, so George took pen to paper and composed a Declaration of Independence that began: When in the course of human entertainment, it becomes necessary for one comedy family to dissolve the programming bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the shows of the networks, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nielsen and of Nielsen’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of viewers requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
