What is the difference between a consignment & thrift shop?

0

Consignment shops are usually for profit establishments where consigner’s bring .clothes & accessories to the shop for resale. When the items are sold, the money is split between the store & consigner. These store are very selective about the type of items they will accept, so you will usually find a higher quality of gently used items in these types of stores, and they will be in the cleanest most pristine condition. Thrift shops are usually not for profit establishments run by churches or other charity organizations such as Cancer Care & the like. Items are donated and profits go to whatever organization sponsors the store. You will find all sorts of merchandise in these stores besides clothing. They carry furniture, books, toys, household items, home decor & more.
