A Mudslide is a type of Landslide.  A  Landslide is technically an overall term which describes all types of movement downhill of snow, mud, rock, soil.   and includes Avalanches as well.  A Mudslide is typically caused by sudden heavy rain or fast melting snow and consists of mud (soil and water) as well as other debris while an avalanche is typically related to snow.  Mudslides are quite deadly and can bury houses quickly.

I’m guessing that a mudslide is when mud makes a big river and runs down hills, while a landslide is when rocks fall off mountains, or something like that. I think.
