What is the difference between a manual clean oven and a self-clean oven?

It all comes down to elbow grease. Manual ovens must be cleaned by hand, using strong cleansers. A self-clean oven automatically cleans itself by incinerating food spills in the oven cavity. When you select the self-clean cycle both elements in the oven will heat the cavity to approximately 900 degrees Fahrenheit. The cleaning process takes between 3 and 4 hours. When it’s finished the interior is sparkling clean and you need only wipe up a little bit of residue.
