What is the difference between a plastic tip and a wood tip drumstick?
If you prefer playing rock or alternative music, a plastic tipped stick would be preferential, as a wood tip can split and give you a “flat” spot at the end of the stick. Plastic tips can also add clarity or definition to cymbals. Drummers that play fusion or jazz are likely to enjoy a wood tip drumstick.
