What is the difference between a Tracing and a Direct Entry?
A tracing is a drawing either by hand or stylus/mouse of the ridges from a latent print. By hand the latent is drawn on tracing paper positioned over a 5/1 photograph of the latent. A tracing can also be accomplished by scanning the image into a computer and connecting the ridges on the screen by using a mouse or stylus.
