What is the difference between a variegated and an overdyed thread ?
Preliminary answer, still under work. The variegated are obtained by dyeing adjacent sections of thread with different colors. The Valdani variegated blend one color into another at the conjunction showing a nice transition with little or no contrast. The sections are about 12″ long, please keep in mind this for your projects. The overdyed are obtained by double, consecutive Hand-Dyeing through a long and labor-intensive process. The thread is first dyed with one color all the length then a successive dye is applied to every other section to obtain a stronger tone.
