What is the difference between ALF and AFCH?

An “adult family care home” is a 24 hour family-style living environment in a private home of the administrator. The AFCH provides the room, board, and personal care, on a 24-hour basis, for no more than five (5) disabled adults or frail elders who are not relatives. The adult family care home provider lives in the home and is the primary caregiver. An assisted living facility provides housing, meals, and one or more of the 5 activities of daily living to one or more adults who are not relatives of the owner or administrator. The administrator may live off-site.
