Alligators and Crocodiles are different in many ways. Physically the crocodile is typically larger in size. Crocs have a V shaped snout compared to an alligator having a U shaped snout. Alligators have the top row of teeth showing when the mouth is closed but the crocodile adorns a feisty grin with both the top and bottom teeth showing. Crocodiles have a gland that enables them to drink salt or fresh water. The alligator lacking this gland is confined to live in a fresh water habitat, however, you may see an alligator swimming in saltwater keep in mind that the alligator cannot drink the water.
