What is the difference between an Alligator Clip and a Metal/French Barrette?
An Alligator Clip is the type you pinch to open, and it opens like an Alligator’s mouth opens. A Metal Barrette actually snaps closed.. Most people prefer to use an Alligator Clip on girls with very thin, fine hair and Metal Barrettes are for older girls with more hair. My personal preference is the Metal Barrettes, I use a small Pony-O and then clip the bow under that. It all boils down to your personal preference, though Metal Barrettes are recommended for the larger bows!
