What is the difference between an Article, News Release, or Commentary?
An article is usually a help or information piece 500-1000 words in length. It will sometimes have quotes, but not always. It is used to get people interested in something on your homepage. This is called indirect advertising and is more acceptable to most editors and publishers. A News Release with be a news worthy event about something you are doing, it will always quote the owner(s) or their associates and is usually about 500-600 words. Most editors will edit this down to fit their format. A new web service, a new book, management changes, and other topics can be included. A News release is not news if it is a current service you are selling. A Commentary is a first person opinion. It can be about any subject and we will accept it if it does not condone racism, hate, or other illegal activies.
