What is the difference between an internship and a co-op? Does Ohio State offer both?
Employers may hire students for either an internship or a co-op. An internship is a one-time work experience that typically lasts three to six months and is offered every quarter. A co-op provides repeated work experience: students alternate quarters of full-time study with quarters of full-time work. Students in virtually any discipline at Ohio State can participate in a co-op or internship. We encourage them to seek out such opportunities because co-ops and internships are a great way to explore a career field and gain career-related experience before graduation. Many employers extend permanent job offers to their student employees.
