What is the difference between Cedar & Spruce wood fences?

0

A The main difference between cedar & spruce is longevity. Northern white cedar should last on Long Island about 10-15 years. Spruce should last about 7 years. Where or how it is installed can add or take away the life of your wood fence. A wood fence installed 2″ off the ground will last longer then if it were sitting on the ground. Installation near trees, brush, sprinklers, ect. Can lessen the life of a wood fence. Even though spruce is cheaper then cedar, you will have to replace it in half the time.
