What is the difference between DLAP and the Education Studies Minor?
DLAP is a very specific program with the goal of preparing students to go on to programs for multiple subjects teaching credentials. With DLAP students take courses that will give them a background in the subjects commonly taught in elementary schools. The Education Studies Minor, on the other hand, is more broad and is designed to educate the student in the policies, social issues, history, and laws pertaining to “education.” The Education Studies Minor is not a program that specifically prepares one for teaching, although it is for those interested in learning more about many professional research issues confronting educators. Some undergraduate students choose do both DLAP and the Education Studies Minor in addition to their major.
