At birth (or purchase from the store), there is little difference between these two values. Gene strength is deteremined by dividing the total value of the horse’s four breeding traits (Movement, Build, Natural Health, Character) by 80 (the highest total value of all traits together). From this caluclation (net total/80), there is an element of secrecy and randomness that goes into completing the formula to determine gene strength.
