What is the difference between grid connected and grid interactive?
A grid connected system is where photovoltaic panels are creating electricity and feeding it back to the grid. It is built with a safety feature which means when the grid goes down, the system goes down. A grid interactive system includes a back up battery bank which will store energy and feed excess energy back to the grid. Grid interactive systems are generally 30% more expensive than grid-tied systems.
