What is the difference between held, cancelled and dissolved status?

0

When searching our name availability data base, names of businesses will appear with a status that is either active, held, cancelled or dissolved. The status type impacts the availability of that business name as follows: • Active – the business has an exclusive right to this name and you must obtain consent in order to use this business name. • Held – the business has an exclusive right to this name and you must obtain consent in order to use this business name. A business is in “held” status for one year after it has been cancelled on our records. If the business does not reinstate within one year from the date of cancellation, then the status will change to “canceled.” • Canceled – The name of a canceled entity is available to another entity for registration on a first come, first serve basis. • Dissolved – The name of a dissolved entity is available to another entity for registration on a first come, first serve basis.
