This was selected as Best Answer Mobile Operating System and Mobile Platform are two different entities. Mobile OS is a layer which resides upon device hardware and it’s the basically single point of interaction with device hardware. It includes the APIs which are responsible for the device graphics, device networks etc. For example, Windows Mobile OS, Symbian OS, Nokia Proprietary OS, Android OS, iPhone OS etc. Where as Mobile Platforms are application frameworks using which developer can write an application which runs on the device. It may or may not interact with the device native features using Native API support.
