What is the difference between my voting district commissioner and my working district commissioner?

0

There are five voting and working districts in the county. Each voting district contains roughly the same number of citizens and most issues are addressed through these districts (if an issue comes up in a certain area, that areas voting district commissioner will usually work with citizens to resolve the problem). The five working districts, however, each contain an equal number of road miles. Road dollars are allocated to each commissioner by these road districts so that transportation is funded uniformly throughout the county. Therefore, the voting district applies to everything EXCEPT transportation issues and as a citizen you may be in one commissioners voting district, but in another commissioners working (or road) district. How can you tell which voting and working district you are in? You can call the Board of County Commissioners office at 850-983-1877 or you can also search a map on the county web site at http://www.santarosa.fl.gov/bocc/members/commissionmap.
