What is the difference between Nigerian Dwarf goats, pygmy goats, and miniature goats?
Nigerian Dwarf goats are miniature dairy goats, in other words, they are bred to have the proportional length of body and structure of a large dairy goat, while pygmy goats are exotic pets bred to be “meaty” and heavy boned with short legs and rounded bodies and large, short heads. Miniature goats are a miniaturized version of large breed goats, e.g., mini-nubians or mini-manchas (miniature la mancha goats) and are a relatively recent development in the United States.
