For example, the actual dimensions of a block are 7 5/8″ x 7 5/8″ x 15 5/8″, but the unit is referred to in nominal dimensions as an 8″ x 8″ x 16″ block. Typical core, web, and face shell dimensions vary (usually by less than plus or minus an 1/8 of an inch).
