What is the difference between religion and philosophy?

0

A religion- is a set of beliefs and practices, often centered upon specific supernatural and moral claims about reality, the cosmos, and human nature, and often codified as prayer, ritual, and religious law. Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and mystic experience. The term “religion” refers to both the personal practices related to communal faith and to group rituals and communication stemming from shared conviction. Philosophy is “the study of the most general and abstract features of the world and categories with which we think: mind, matter, reason, proof, truth etc. In philosophy, the concepts by which we approach the world themselves become the topic of enquiry.

Philosophy : Philosophy is “the study of the most general and abstract features of the world and categories with which we think: mind, matter, reason, proof, truth etc. In philosophy, the concepts by which we approach the world themselves become the topic of enquiry.”[1] The main branches of philosophy are logic, epistemology, metaphysics, ethics,[2] as well as philosophy of mind, political philosophy, and aesthetics. [3]. Its investigations use reason, striving to make no unexamined assumptions so religion is believn in something that aint true… so i agree. Agree. Religions start out as philosophy, but philosophy is thought with no limits. It is questioning (almost) everything. Religion, on the other hand, has dogma. If you do not accept Jesus, you are not a Christian. Period. An Atheist is not a Jew. If you believe the original version of the bible is correct, or that no version is, you aren’t Muslim.

Philosophy, basically, is an interrogation process targeting the truth. Religion is the emotive affirmation of a chosen belief- even if it is objectively untrue. You make the emotional investment through ritual, association, devotion and community support, so it becomes a part of your life beyond your thoughts. I know which I prefer.

Philosophy is thought alone, or else thought plus rational, empirical investigation. Religion requires one to experience ritual to heighten understanding and/or commitment to the ideas.
