What is the difference between seamless and vacuum formed vinyl?

The word “Seamless” literally means the upholstery does not show any outward seams or stitching. It is viewed as more “aseptic” as cleaning solutions and other fluids can not penetrate the upholstery through seams. In the past, to manufacture “seamless” upholstery, The Brewer Company and other manufacturers bought special vinyl that was “heat treatable or vacuum formable.” This is a process, still used today, that heats the fabric then “vacuum forms” the materials over a mold to eliminate all air, causing a very tight, seamless lines. The problem with this process was that the color selection of heat treatable fabrics has been somewhat limited. To overcome this situation, The Brewer Company has created a line of stools for dental operatories, lab and surgery applications where non heat treatable fabrics are “pulled” and stapled over the foam to create a “seamless” look. When ordering Brewer stools, a true “vacuum form” process is designated by a “V” behind the stool number.
