What is the difference between socialization and social development?
Dr. Linda K. Silverman suggests socialization is “the ability to adapt to the needs of the group,” while social development is “a deep comfortable level of self-acceptance that leads to true friendships.” Adapting to the needs of the group is not always what is most appropriate for gifted children.
