The Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) is a Community Right-to-Know Inventory. Facilities that manufacture or process 25,000 pounds or more of listed substances or use 10,000 pounds or more of listed substances, that are in the manufacturing sector (Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes 20-39), electric utility sector, mining sector, solvent recovery sector, petroleum bulk storage sector, chemical wholesale sector and the treatment, storage and disposal sector, and that have 10 or more full-time employees are required to report annually. (Beginning in reporting year 2000, certain persistent, bioaccumulative toxic chemicals are subject to lower reporting thresholds). This provides a comprehensive picture of how a facility manages its toxic chemicals in waste. There
