The primary difference is the wine marked Alto Adige is made from grapes grown in the geographical area designated as the Alto Adige DOC and the one labelled Valdadige is made from grapes grown in the geographical area designated as the Valdadige DOC. DOC stands for ‘Denominazione di Origine Controllata’ which is a legally defined geographical region similar to the French ‘Appellation Controlee’ system.
