What is the difference between the six-month HIT program and the HIT degree program?

0

The six-month program is for those coming in with either IT or medical education/experience and enables them to gain a knowledge base they don’t already have. It is a NON-DEGREE program. Upon successful completion, a certificate will be awarded with the expectation that the student will take a national competency examination being prepared through federal funding. The score from this competency examination can be used by the potential employer to assess the student’s knowledge base. The HIT degree allows the individual to write the national registration examination to become a RHIT. In order to write the RHIT exam, a student must have completed a CAHIIM accredited associate degree program in HIT.
