There are quite a few differences. Well, I shouldn’t say a few. I should say a lot of differences. The main difference you need to know between the two is the type of things each can calculate. The TI-89 has a Computer Algebra System (CAS), which means it can solve algebraic equations, polynomial expressions, and perform symbolic manipulation. The TI-83 (Plus), however, cannot do those things because it does not have a CAS. Then there are other small things that may or may not be pertinent to you.
