What is the difference between traditional sensors and optical fibre sensors?
Optical fibre sensors take measurements by using the variations in the light beam caused by the object which is being measured. This means that they are insensitive to exterior influences such as electromagnetic fields (e.g. lightening, high voltage wires), corrosion, fluctuations in temperature and ageing.
