What is the differnce betwen WEP and WPA security?

WEP transmits the hash for the shared secret across the wireless network. If someone captures enough of those packets, they can fairly easily reverse engineer the shared secret. WPA uses the passphrase to negotiate an encrypted key for the session. No hash of the passphrase ever traverses the network. Therefore it doesn’t matter how many packets you sniff, you can never reverse engineer the passphrase. The encrypted key is far more secure in that even if you hack it, you get an encrypted key that you must then attempt to decrypt. WPA renegotiates the secret key every 8 hours by default although you can change that interval. Using 128-bit encryption, you would need several years to crack the secret key and then you’d need several more years to decrypt that; and that would be using a super computer. Using a typical PC would take several hundred years. With an 8-hour life, that would obviously be an exercise in futility. Lastly, even if you KNOW the passphrase, that only allows you to get
