What is the expectation of the teacher once s/he completes the academy? Will there be support for teachers after they return to their campuses and begin implementing the strategies they learned?
After teachers attend the face-to-face training in the summer, they will be expected to complete follow-up assignments that will involve actually implementing some of the content learned in their classrooms during the fall semester. Teachers then must submit documentation of these assignments online before December 1 of that semester. The expectation is that teachers will continue to implement the research-based strategies in order to improve student comprehension and learning of classroom content. We encourage campus administrators and specialists to participate in the overview session for administrators to assist them in supporting classroom implementation.
