What is the First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit?
The Homebuyer Tax Credit deadlines have passed for most homebuyers. However, a special rule gives an extension to eligible members of the military and other federal employees who served outside the U.S. between January 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010. Homebuyers who qualify under this special rule must enter into a contract to buy their home no later than April 30, 2011, and must close by June 30, 2011.
