What is the Glasgow Secondary Schools Project?
The Glasgow Secondary Schools Project, also known as Project 2002, is a major 30-year project to upgrade the quality of teaching accommodation and information and communications technology (ICT) provided to all 29 secondary schools in Glasgow and then maintain each of the properties to the highest standards. One primary school and one nursery school have also been involved in the programme. The planning and construction phase took approximately two years; this was substantially completed by summer 2002, with the project moving into the operations and maintenance phase from there. To reflect the pace of changing technology the ICT maintenance and upgrading element is for a 12-year period only.
