The latest 1.8″ hard-disk drive format not only contributes to the light weight and smaller size of the LS800, but also uses less power and greatly increases reliability by reducing the risk of shock-induced failures – addressing an important durability requirement for highly mobile users. Q. How does the LS800’s 1.8″ hard-disk drive compare to the earlier-generation 2.5″ drives? A. In addition to lower power consumption and weight, the most significant benefit of 1.8″ drives to mobile users is the improved shock resistance, both during operation and non-operational transport. The 1.8″ 30GB and 20GB HDDs deliver all storage gigabytes on a single disk platter, which rotates at 4200rpm, resulting in lower energy consumption in addition to quiet operation.
