What is the individualized service environment?
The individualized service environment provides a system of care where services are tailored to meet the specific needs of the person being served. It has been demonstrated over time that since each person is unique, and that each person should be the center and focus of the services that are designed with and for him or her. Therefore a flexible service system has been developed in New York to meet the individual needs of people with developmental disabilities living in our state. The individualized service environment provides the flexibility to most appropriately meet the needs of the people OMRDD serves, within a high quality and cost-effective system.
