KARACHI – Director Commercial, Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), Sameen is facing inquiries before Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) and Ministry of Production for his alleged involvement in the sale of scrap at throw-away price. Now, he has been transferred back from PSM to Ministry of Production, The Nation learnt from the sources. The sources informed that he has been facing a case of selling scrap at throw-away rates, as the value of scrap was in the range of Rs 370 million but PSM sold it out for Rs 230 million. The issue has been taken up by the Ministry of Production and the hearings are underway. It is noteworthy that the PSM has taken no action against these irregularities in the sales of scrap. The scrap was sold out to Farooq Bunda, a steel dealer, on low rates as he had politically linked with the high-ups in the government, while Riaz Mangi acted as mediator in the deals.
