What is the Leave Donation Program?
• A: The Leave Donation Program is designed to assist employees who, because of long-term illness, have exhausted all of their leave benefits and are subject to a severe loss of income during a continuing absence from work. Here are some of the essential program rules and qualifications; please contact the Chapter Office for more information: • The employee MUST apply to the campus president for a grant of additional sick leave BEFORE the option of leave donations becomes available. • The employee, co-workers, or their local union representatives may solicit donations; the employing campus may NOT solicit donations. • Donations can be made only by calendar-year employees represented by UUP, CSEA, & PEF. • Donations can be made from VACATION accruals only and donations must be made in full-day units. • People who contribute must retain a minimum balance of ten vacations days accrued after the donation is made.
