What is the most dangerous volcano in the world?
The most dangerous volcanoes in the world are probably those that mankind has chosen to live near, and are the explosive variety. St Helens is certianly explosive but few people live close by. Mt Pinatubo in the Philippines has all the right peramaters to be extremely dangerous, it has recently erupted and has millions of people living close by. My money goes on Mt.Versuvius in Italy. It is very close to the large city of Naples and has been in continuous eruption for several decades. It was Versuvius that caused the end of Pompeii and Herculaneum in AD 79, killing a large (but unknown) number of people. There are however several Adean volcanoes that could lay claim to the title and Mt Popocatepetl that towers over Mexico city could very well be the one. There is no way I would live in Mexico city because of that volcano.
