We will continue working cooperatively with the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to ensure the safety of the public and onsite workers, and to ensure the environment is protected. According to the DTSC, before onsite construction can begin, the following criteria and guidelines must be met and followed, pending the outcome of the May 2008 RFA: • If the DTSC determines that contaminants are above acceptable levels, the DTSC will require submission and approval of a further assessment plan to address the contamination prior to issuance of a building permit. • A soil management plan (SMP) must be submitted and approved by the DTSC before construction can begin in any identified area(s) of concern.
