What is the point in disk partitioning?

0

In effect it makes one hard disk act as if you had two. So you can have a different operating system on each partition. I used to have a partition for gaming which had no software, drivers, external hardware or anything else apart from my most demanding games to get the most out of my CPU. Also you can have all of your data saved to a different partition, which may be useful in the event of disk damage or a virus infection. I have personal experience of one partition not booting up but being able to boot another and get access to my data in a third partition.
